February 2006 — Participated in the ODU/VIMS Blue Crab Bowl Virginia Regional Competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB).

Experience:

Fall 2009-Spring 2010 — OEAS 441 Field Study capstone course: Field Sampling from Hoffler Creek Wildlife Reserve including; nutrients, salinity, chlorophyll-a, total suspended matter (TSM), ADV, CTD. Lab analysis of Nitrate using cadmium reduction columns, and Nitrite/Phosphate/Nitrate concentrations using a spectrophotometer.

Fall 2009 — Marine Ecology, Biology 415 final project: Turbidity testing of the Virginia Oyster Crassostrea virginica and the Ribbed Mussel Geukensia demissa. Testing how salinity, and other physical aspects affect the clearance rates of turbidity on different species of bivalves.

October 8-12 2009 — Marine Ecology Lab Field Trip to the Goshen College of Marine Science in the Florida Keys. Instructed by Dr. Mark J. Butler, Department of Biological Sciences. Conducted sponge predation experiment using six different species in two different habitats over a 24 hour period. Study on Spiny Lobster Panulirus argus Den Competition. Participated in the Florida Bay Sponge experiment. Helping to restore sponge populations in Florida Bay. Pilot study launched by ODU and UF September 2009.

May 2006 — Participated in Microbial Biology experiment with Dr. Alexander Bochdansky. Tested feeding rates of Mini Cells on Bacteria. Use of microbial laboratory instruments and epiflourescence microscope.

Spring 2007-present — Member of Sigma Nu Fraternity Inc. Held positions of Chaplain, Leadership chair, Brotherhood chair, and conflict prevention and resolution chair.
