My work focuses on the taxonomy of harmful algal species and various aspects of harmful algal bloom monitoring. Currently I am involved with projects that monitor for the saxitoxin producing dinoflagellate Pyrodinium bahamense in Florida’s Indian River Lagoon, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Red Tide Offshore Volunteer Monitoring Program, and biotoxin monitoring in shellfish harvesting areas with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
